This is my all time favourite song for 3 very good and simple reasons:
It has very deep, meaningful lyrics written from the heart
It's sung by Elvis!!
and it's the first song I ever remember hearing. Truly great song, that still brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it!

I love the song... It is so beautiful and heartfelt and so true to Elvis's life.... Elvis and Priscilla belonged together. It literally broke his heart when she left and I know he died of a broken heart. I wish they could have made it work and Elvis would still be alive today... Him losing Priscilla was just too much to bear.... He truly loved her with all his heart. I still cry thinking of their split.

My grandson and girlfriend had just went their separate ways and the girlfriend took his daughter Selena, my great granddaughter, away with her to another state... And this song sums it up right to the tee. Elvis was the king and will always be the king and the greatest in my heart forever, and this song brings tears to my eyes. And I just love Elvis. He is a capricorn, born 1935, and I was too. We have so much in common and I dream of Elvis and always in my dreams we are boyfriend and lovers. I was wondering why I always dream of him as my lover. He's like my family and we know each other for so many years as sweet hearts. Maybe one day when I pass on we will be together... Rest in peace Elvis...

I just divorced my wife and I always loved this song. Sadly now I have experienced the same feeling Elvis went through and when I'm able to listen this song again without tears, then I have survived.

I heard this song on a tape, and though I am single (and will never divorce once I am married because I know my future husband will be the one Jesus planned for me because I am praying about it), I have suffered the pain of my parents' divorce. I also think of the part where Elvis sings of how much the divorce would hurt Lisa Marie, and I think of how she was broken later on in life when another musician came into her life and married her and she thought he loved her when he only wanted to use her to boost his own reputation after child molestation charges, and it makes me cry for the both of us.

The song separate ways is obviously for Priscilla as itt was recorded in 1972 just a year after she left him. Priscilla was the one true love of his life and it is clear that this song is stating their split. However "Always on my mind" was also a song that he dedicated to her.
