Elvis Presley Song:
Little Sister (1961)
(Music and lyrics by Pumas and Shuman)
Recorded in RCA Studios, Nashville, in June 1961, and released in August 1961,
Little Sister was actually the B-side to the single "(Marie's the Name of)
His Latest Flame".
And this B-side song climbed up to #5 on Hot 100 hits chart in 1961!
The lyrics talk about a man dating a girl who sneaks out of the show
he takes her to, with some other guy. So... he decides to try his luck
with the little sister who has been growing.
"Little sister, don't you...
Little sister, don't you...
Little sister, don't you kiss me once or twice.
Then say it's very nice,
And then you run.
Little sister, don't you
Do what your big sister done.."

I have always liked Elvis singing Little Sister. I have 2 older brothers, they call me their Little Sister. I play this song all the time on my cd player. This is one of the best songs Elvis recorded in the nineteen sixties.

The guitarist on Elvis' "Little Sister" was Hank Garland with a truly "snaky" solo in a call and response kind of solo see page 159 in "Always Magic in tne Air" by Ken Emerson a cut-out book barely still available on Amazon.com right now!
Why do I like "Little Sister" so much? It shows that Elvis could "still rock a song" even at that late date!!

Nobody can sing a song like Elvis, he truly was the King!! This song I love because it has that real early rockabilly sound. I especially love the rockabilly type riffs that the guitarist... (love to know who played lead guitar on this recording; I know that it wasn't Scotty Moore or James Burton). And Elvis' raunchy vocal makes this song an all-time favorite of mine.
