In the space of time great things happen only once. Elvis was and is and will always be the best singer this world will ever listen to. Why? His songs are sung with feeling, he shows real compassion for his songs, he is a natural a gift from God. I wish I was in dixie is a song that I can listen to all night. The king is dead long live the king.

I think that Kentucky Rain is one of Elvis's greatest songs he recorded in 1969 but released in 1970. I can listen to Kentucky Rain every day on my CD player. Pity we can't see the live version he sang on stage in Las Vegas. The song was number one on the Australian charts. Thank you Elvis for such a great song. Your number 1 fan Lynn

I was in fact walking in the rain in he suburbs of Perth Ausralia and it was a cold dark raining night looking for my girlfriend Tina Galvin and never found her, I never knew why she left and strangely enough I never found her or what she was running from or whom she was running to. I must have done something wrong and she killed something big inside of me I cannot explain, I wished she had explained, I would have given my life for her, she never gave me closer. So I thank Elvis for having sung my story. Elvis is so prophetic. Elvis, this song still goes off like a bomb for me. In memory of you respecfully yours, Stephen A Hayes

I love this song. Elvis voice is really strong in this song and it is another ballad. I loved Elvis ballads.

Kentucky Rain is a classic, they don't write them anymore like that. It is a powerful song that contains a story and it has lots of emotion and a strong melody, certainly one of Elvis' best, it has the sound of a real hit song.

I'm not committed to saying any one particular singer is the greatest. For me, there are so many great ones. But if I had to make a snap judgement decision, it would definitely be Elvis. I could be comfortable with that. And especially for this song. It comes and goes from my life at very emotional moments, and if I could have only one song, it would definitely be this. I have a question. Is it a piano or steel guitar that chimes in? It comes in for the first time right before he says "Kentucky Rain" for the first time. Can anyone list the instruments used in this song? Thanks!

I though Kentucky rain had a verse in it about flaging down a truck or something like that. Is there a long ver.?

i was not old enough to really know at the time who Elvis was.
but with sites like these it helps one see and understand a little more about the king.
i can remember my father singing this song and doing Elvis's trademark gyrating of the hips lol.
