ELVIS PRESLEY SONGS

 Elvis Presley singing a song

Elvis song poll - list of favorite Elvis songs

Elvis Presley made it to the music history because of his enormous success and because of the new style of music he sang: rock'n'roll.  It was based on his musical influences of rhythm and blues, blues, gospel songs, and country - mixing both black and white music in a unique manner.  His live performance was electrifying, carrying lots of energy, movement, swinging, dancing.  Add to that a good voice and good looks, and no wonder girls in the 50s went wild over him.   And of course it didn't stop at 1950s.

Besides energetic rock and roll songs, Elvis also sang gospel songs and many many beautiful love ballads.  Gospel music was always very dear to him and was his favorite music to play in his private time or when needing to calm down from concert excitement.

Below you will find a list of Elvis Presley songs and you can vote for your favorite Elvis song.  The selection in the poll is limited to some of Elvis greatest hits because it would be hard to list all of the over 700 songs in a poll.  The list is not perfect but we hope to build it better with your feedback.  So it's possible that your favorite is missing from the list, in which case just vote for the other songs you like and type the missing one in a text field that is provided. If you would like to take the list to convert PDF to word for an easier printable reference you can as well.

We also invite you to write us if some particular song listed here connects with your life in a special way.  Click on the links to write in your comments for the individual songs!

Song: I'll Remember You

I had heard that Elvis sang this song after his mom died as a dedication to her. Either way, it is a beautiful tribute to anyone who has lost some dear to them. I have loved this song ever since I heard it from the Hawaii concert and have recorded it myself. However, nobody can sing it like the King.

Song: Angel

I thought this song was from "Wild In the Country," not "Follow that Dream," but I'm wrong; it is from "Follow that Dream." I get the two movies confused because I actually thought they were quite good, compared to some of the weaker plots in movies that Elvis had to endure. These two are my Elvis movie favorites, and the better story lines gave Elvis a chance to use his acting skills, which were wonderful--very natural, yet engaging. I must have listened to "Angel" alot back then; it has been a song in my head for over 50 years! But I don't buy movie soundtracks, and it took me awhile to find the song on a CD mix--it's on a great CD, "Love, Elvis," and also on "Elvis--Love Songs." Both CDs are full of beautiful ballads, including the covers he did of other artist's songs of the late 60's and 70's. He WAS the music of the 20th century; I doubt any musical eras to come will ever see an artist with such influence and power.

Song: Don't Cry Daddy

This song is about a daughter's unconditional love for her Daddy and her coming to terms with his passing. I am a year younger than Lisa Marie and I remember hearing the news on the car radio that Elvis died as I was riding along with my Daddy.

As a child when she lost her Daddy maybe Lisa Marie thought her Daddy's soul was crying and was sad because he would not be around to raise her and spend time with her. Lisa Marie is comforting her Daddy and telling him it's ok that he is gone because she is alright and will carry on without him. She does not want him to cry and worry that he was not there to raise her and spend time with her. Through this song she redeems her Daddy's suffering.

Obviously, no one can hold back the tears when listening to this graceful duet. We can easily imagine the feelings of love and wonder Elvis would experience if he was with us to react to this moving tribute. He would be filled with such wonder, pride, love and joy for his beautiful daughter Lisa Marie.

Thank you Lisa Marie. We fans loved your Daddy and we love you.

Song: Help Me

Having so many impersonators for Elvis would be like a high number of backing choir members. Sing about the good times. I will always love Elvis as a father brother and son. All love and respect to Priscilla, Lisa Marie, family and friends. Elvis, your songs lift me higher. We live and learn as we go through the ages. I would have liked but I was just a kid. As a man of history you stood out in history. Like Abe Lincoln said, it's not easy to please everyone. Elvis, Abe, Priscilla, Lisa, you got me.

Song: An American Trilogy

No other performer can make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck like this guy. The power and feeling in his voice will never be matched. American Trilogy is only one example of this guy's mind-blowing talent. Every time I watch this guy perform I know I am watching history because there will never ever be anyone like him again.

I just wanted to say I love Elvis songs. He sings with such passion, he certainly was one good looking man and so many people were followers of his music. He did leave way too early, as we have now found the same with Michael Jackson. Fantastic voices with looks to kill.
This video of Elvis and his daughter is very moving, Lisa you show such feelings in this video, I'm sure this song was very emotional for you to do at first. Well done, Lisa, it's fantastic, your dad would have been proud of you. I hope there is more of the same to come, although I think this one "Don't cry, daddy" will have the most meaning for you and others who watch it.. Very impressed and love it. Lisa you're so much like your Daddy in looks and with the voice of an angel. Keep up the good work.

Song: if I Can Dream

Beautiful song, and magnificent attempt by Elvis to keep the idealism that M.L. King and R.F.K alluded to alive. Simply fantastic soulful performance with no equal.

[I love Elvis Presley. I'm sorry I have not only lived at that time only to worship him. Do not know how are 23 year olds who like Elvis Presley but I adore and is the only singer who has dedicated unto me all the songs just me.

Song: Don't Cry Daddy

Don't Cry Daddy is the best song ever. I am right there with you Lisa Marie. I also lost my Daddy, he was 44 yrs old. And I miss him so very much. The way you are able to sing this song with your Dad is just flat Beautiful.

Song: Follow That Dream

Ii like this song because when I was 18, I got pregnant with my first child, quit school and became a moth and house wife. As time went by I had 4 children and raising them on my own... I told my child that I would never leave New Mexico till I was done raising them. I told them that I had always wanted to drive a semi-truck and that one day before I'm too old that I will do just that, and I also wanted to learn how to ride a motorcycle. My brothers and sisters knew how but never wanted to teach me and were always putting me down. Wwhen the time came I moved to Phoenix, AZ, went to school and became a semi-truck driver. Two years after that I went and took lessons and learned how to ride... the song FOLLOW THAT DREAM was always in my head... I thank you ELVIS for such an inspiration. It helped me so much then and still helps me to go forward in all I do, no matter what anyone says love you ELVIS.....

Song: It's Midnight

Elvis was indeed a very lonely man. Yeah, he may have had all those people around him, but they didn't fill the emptyness in his heart. And we all know the two people he cherished most in the whole world. Elvis didn't die August 16, 1977. He died when him and Silla's divorce was finalized. Hence, the purpose behind this song.

I play this song all the time. I love how Lisa Marie has added her dad with the song to her video... so nice. The words are so nice to hear from her late father. A shame he left so soon, they would have played wonderful music together... and went far. We have loved Elvis songs and will forever.

Song: Don't Cry Daddy

Don't Cry Daddy really is a lovely song. I was born two weeks after he died, and I really love all his music, and I've always wished he were still alive. This song really makes me upset and want him back when I sing it in karaoke to. To me Elvis will always be the king of rock and roll to me, because I can feel his music running through me.

Song: Don't Cry Daddy

I have been listening to and watching Elvis since I was a little girl. My Dad was a very big huge fan of Elvis. He used to always joke that Elvis got his looks from him, seeing how Elvis was born on his birthday after him, which was Jan 8, 1933 was my dad's. He's gone now but every time I hear this song, it gives me another peice of memory of Dad. Love ya Elvis, and thank you Lisa. You are great.

The beautiful voice of Elvis' is top shelf in this song. He sings with such emotion in this one. He is at his best!! It is magic, fills me with warmth and emotion from my heart to the top of my head.
