Elvis Presley Song:

How Great Thou Art (1967)

(Music and lyrics by Stuart K. Hine)

"How Great thou Art" is an old, originally Swedish hymn, from the 1880s. The missionary Stuard K. Hine translated it into English and added two verses to it. Elvis' version was first released on the gospel album with the same name, "How Great Thou Art". Elvis liked "How Great Thou Art" quite well, and included it in most of his live concerts in the 1970s. He also received two Grammy awards for this song:
  • in 1967, Best Sacred Performance for the studio recording found on "How Great Thou Art" album, and
  • in 1974, Best Inspirational Performance Song for a live performance recorded in Memphis.
(Elvis only received three Grammy awards during his lifetime, all for his gospel songs.) You can find this song on the album How Great Thou Art, or on the CD Elvis Recorded Live on Stage in Memphis, or Elvis in Concert. "O LORD my God! When I in awesome wonder Consider all the works Thy hand hath made; I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder, Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed: Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art!"

ELVIS SINGING "HOW GREAT THOU ART" IN 1967 HAS TO BE THE GREATEST SONG EVER RECORDED BY ANY ENTERTAINER (ELVIS VOICE WAS SO POWERFULL AND TOUCHING).
I love them all but maybe I needed to put just one. I am like another one has said on the comments. I am making a cd of the songs to play at my funeral, I want this to be played. I am 70 years young and still love Elvis as much as I did when I first heard him. I have a 100 plus of his songs on my computer plus stacks and stacks of his cd's. I have one going in the car at all times. I also have live web cams on his mansion. I also found a map that will take you to Graceland and show all the grounds up close. I can see horses there and his plane along with everything else there. I save any new picture I find of Elvis on the internet. I plan on going to Graceland soon and then on to his birth place. I never did get to meet him but I believe I will one of these days in that Golden Home. I do believe he is gone but I would like to think he is not.

I love the song because,I think it's one of his best gospel songs and because it brings tears to my eyes.

24K Gold Music Shows
50s/60s/Elvis/oldies showband in Florida

Burning Love by 24K Gold Music Shows       More videos

24K Gold Music Shows is a large oldies musical revue (126 people) performing primarily in Florida. The shows are filled with lots of choreography, energy, and great fun with oldies, country, and Elvis songs.

The last 1/3 of each evening show is an Elvis Tribute, featuring his music based on arrangements from his 1970s concerts. And every show is different.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
