The lyrics of this song are by Tommy Durden, and the music 
by Mae Boren Axton. Elvis was arranged by his manager Parker 
to receive a credit for the songwriting if he agreed to sing it.
Elvis recorded Heartbreak Hotel for RCA in 1956 and it became Elvis' first #1 hit.

The song talks about a hotel where broken-hearted lovers go cry away
their gloom and loneliness.

The chorus says:
