Elvis Presley Song:

Don't Cry, Daddy (1969)

(Music and lyrics by Scott Davis)

The lyrics of this song are very emotional if you've ever been a parent, talking about the pain of divorce or separation. A little child talks to her crying daddy and asks him not to cry because daddy still has her and little Tommy, and they can find a brand new mommy. Children feel the pain first and hurt the worst, the song mentions. With modern technology, Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie has made a video of 'Don't cry daddy' where she sings it as a duet with her dad. The video uses Elvis' original vocal to which was added new instrumentation and Lisa Marie's part. This video was first presented in August 16, 1997, in a tribute concert that marked the 20th anniversary of Elvis' death. This video has been posted on YouTube so you can see it there: Elvis Presley and Lisa Marie Presley duet of Don't Cry Daddy The chorus: "Don't cry, daddy. Daddy, please don't cry. Daddy, you've still got me and little Tommy. Together we'll find a brand new mommy. Daddy, daddy, please laugh again. Daddy, ride us on your back again. Oh, daddy, please don't cry. Oh, daddy, please don't cry." You can find 'Don't Cry Daddy' on the CDs Elvis 2nd to None and 50 Worldwide Gold Hits: Volume 1.

My Father passed away in Februrary and the only time that I ever seen him cry was when all 5 of his children got together to see what he wanted done when he passed away and one of my sisters kissed him on the forehead and he started to cry and when I heard the song I started crying thinking about my dad and his birthday is coming up really soon.
I think the song is great but it makes me cry because my dad died on the 6th of June so I wish no one else has lost their dad or grandad who both loved Elvis Presley.
I never thought I'd come to this point of falling in love with you singing your songs! Many impostors have tried to copy your style but can't produce the real Elvis way! If you are out there reading this, Elvis, which I have discovered just yesterday that you are still alive today, hope you can read this... Love you Elvis!!!!!!!

I have loved listening to Elvis since I was a little girl, (I am 22 now) he just had a fantastic voice & such a great range. This song really hits me on an emotional level each time I hear it! It is very touching & I do not think that anyone ever could or ever will sing it better than he did!!

Too bad his daughter did not inherit his talent, her music does not compare with his.

I was raised up with Elvis songs in the 50 60 70. I think it is so good for Lisa to sing with her father. I really love it on both the records she has done with him. Hope to hear more. She has a wonderful voice. I will get all of her records also. Keep up the good work Lisa.

TONY FROM WALES UK
I like this song while it's so emotionally and if I heard it Lisa Mrie sing this song with her daddy I was very sad because of the circumstances of her daddy's too soon death. She was a little child when he died. This song means to her, I think she misses her dad so much. I was four years old when Elvis died and I remember this day if it was yesterday. Until this day I became an Elvis fan-
forever...

This song was so very instrumental in my life. My parents divorced when I was a child and my baby brother's name was Tommy. So I sang this song so many times to my daddy, until he passed away when I was 12. I also loved the song In The Ghetto. I just found this site as I was looking for Elvis photo's to use in a In Memory Of photo I'm doing for a family who lost their daughter, she was murdered at the age of 14. She just loved Elvis so I thought that would be a great background. And then I found this site.

Thank You, Kathie Raley

I like this song because it reminds me when my mom passed, my dad was so lost and lonely I had to remind him that he still had his children and we would get through this together. That's why I love this song.

velma carter
I like this song because it reminds me of when my mum and dad split up he started crying.

The bootleg of Elvis singing this with Lisa should be studio-produced... an instant hit. RCA dropped the ball not signing Lisa and now she's with Capitol. My son and I sang this as a duet. One of Elvis' tender best!

BigJohn
This song is one of my dad's favorite songs, and now I love it too. My dad's a very big Elvis fan and he still loves him as the days go on. My dad is still alive.

rabbitman

24K Gold Music Shows
50s/60s/Elvis/oldies showband in Florida

If I Can Dream by 24K Gold Music Shows       More videos

24K Gold Music Shows is a large oldies musical revue (126 people) performing primarily in Florida. The shows are filled with lots of choreography, energy, and great fun with oldies, country, and Elvis songs.

The last 1/3 of each evening show is an Elvis Tribute, featuring his music based on arrangements from his 1970s concerts. And every show is different.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
