This is the title song of Simon and Garfunkel's album, Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Elvis covered it the same year as they did, and many other artists have
done the same since.
The song is about being a friend, helping and comforting another
who is feeling weary and small.
The chorus goes:
"Like a bridge over troubled water,
I will lay me down;
Oh, like a bridge over troubled water,
I will lay me down."
His voice is like smooth chocolate. I love Simon and Garfunkel singing bridge but I adore Elvis singing it.

Elvis chose this song because many of the lyrics fit well with his own generous and compassionate nature. Even Paul Simon was blown away to hear Elvis sing his song; he said "Elvis sang his heart out, the way it should be sung".

Elvis is one of my favorite artist and bridge over trouble water is one of my favorite songs. I love how he sang the song with deep interpersonal feelings that touched my heart the momont I heard it years ago. I can relate to the song with my own troubled waters, and I had a few but when I hear Elvis sing this song it brings me peace that can not be discribed. All I know is that when the song is over, I hit the repeat button my stero over and over again until my troubles for a while are put behind me.

2 years ago my 3 year old son was seriously ill in hospital with an abcess behind his eye, he was in various hospitals for almost 3 weeks , one night I came homefor a change of clothes and just put my cd player on "shuffle" just to listen to some music, "Bridge" came on and it was almost as if Elvis was sending me a message with this song, my son made a complete recovery and this has been one of my favourites ever since.
