Elvis Presley Song:

Blue Suede Shoes (1956)

(Music and lyrics by Carl Perkins)

The first few lines of this song are taken from a children's rhyme: "One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, go boy go" - except that in the last line the 'boy' is changed for 'cat'. Blue Suede Shoes was written and recorded in 1955 by Carl Perkins and made it to all three of pop, country, and blues charts. It is in that sense that this song can be considered the first rock-and-roll hit ever recorded, because rock-and-roll was a new style of music born in the 1950s that incorporated elements of those three pop, blues, and country. Here's a nice history of how Blue Suede Shoes was first conceived: presumably Johnny Cash had heard someone say in a line, "Don't step on my blue suede shoes" and suggested to Perkins to write a song about that. Then another night Perkins saw a dancer push away his girlfriend in an attempt to keep her away from his new blue suede shoes - and so he writes the song. The chorus line of this song goes like this: "Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh, Honey, lay off of my shoes. Don't you step on my blue suede shoes. You can do anything, but lay off of my blue suede shoes."

I have always loved Elvis since I was a little girl b/c I have the same birthday. I am now 21 & one of the few around here that still listens to his music. This song is one of my many favorites b/c when I was little my grandpa would sit me on his knee and sing this song to me while bouncing me around or we would dance.

I thank this song. It is the reason I know and love Elvis. We had to sing blue Suede Shoes in class in Grade three. To me, it was just electrifying! I got mum to take me out that very night to buy an Elvis Presley tape, and have not looked back since. Elvis has been with me through so many tough times in my life - my parents' divorce, teenage years, bullying at school. Thank you, Elvis.xxx

Lauren

24K Gold Music Shows
50s/60s/Elvis/oldies showband in Florida

Burning Love by 24K Gold Music Shows       More videos

24K Gold Music Shows is a large oldies musical revue (126 people) performing primarily in Florida. The shows are filled with lots of choreography, energy, and great fun with oldies, country, and Elvis songs.

The last 1/3 of each evening show is an Elvis Tribute, featuring his music based on arrangements from his 1970s concerts. And every show is different.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
