Elvis originally released the song "And I Love You So" on the album "Today" in 1975. The recording sessions for this album started in March 1975, after Elvis had been in a hospital for several physical problems. Before Elvis, the song was a hit for Perry Como in 1973.

After recording the song, Presley used it in almost every live show until his death.

I tell them I don't know

I guess they understand
How lonely life has been

The day you took my hand "
