Elvis Movie "Trouble With Girls" (1969)

"Trouble With Girls" is actually a misleading name for this movie, since it is NOT a typical 'Elvis with lots of girls' film. The film was originally called "Chautauqua", which is a traveling educational/entertaining tent show. In the movie, Elvis plays Walter Hale, a manager of the traveling show or 'chautauqua' in the year 1927. A Worker's Union representative (Marlyn Mason) is troubling Hale. Another trouble arises when a local female pharmacist is found murdered. There is friction between the local town people and Elvis' crew, but in the end Elvis solves the murder mystery.

This film doesn't see Elvis singing songs at every turn, but he sings these five songs: "Almost", "Clean Up Your Own Backyard", "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", "Violet (Flower of Nyu)", and "Signs of the Zodiac".

This is NOT the ONLY Elvis movie with a swear word! A kid in the movie "Change Of Habit" says a swear word.

This is the only Elvis movie with a swear word! Even though in the UK it has a U rating, in the uncut version on DVD Marilyn Mason's character calls Elvis a bad name - interesting because it's Elvis that slips through the censors. It took time for me to warm up to this film, but now I like it!

It's funny and the music is very good. I'm working with cameras as well and can tell this movie is my taste. You have to watch all these little scenes.

I love this movie; Elvis looked gorgeous and he looks like he was having a really great time making this film. He shows a real flair for comedy and the relationship between him and his co-star is much more believable than in movies such as 'Clambake', 'Speedway' etc. Watch it, you may be surprised!
