Elvis in the movie Frankie and Johnny

Elvis Movie "Frankie and Johnny" (1966)

The film "Frankie and Johnny" is based on an old song, except the ending is different in the movie.  Elvis plays Johnny, who sings with his girlfriend, Frankie (played by Donna Douglas), on a Mississippi riverboat.  Frankie won't marry him till he quits his gambling, and a fortuneteller tells Johnny that his luck will change with a redhead.  Indeed he finds one (Nancy Kovack), but Frankie gets dangerously jealous.

Elvis sings "Come Along", "Petunia the Gardener's Daughter", "Chesay", "What Every Woman Lives For", "Frankie and Johnny", "Look Out Broadway", "Beginner's Luck", "Down by the Riverside/When the Saints Go Marching In", "Shout it out", Hard Luck", "Please Don't Stop Loving Me", and "Everybody Come Aboard".

It has my favorite Elvis soundtrack song "Please dont stop loving me", so it rates pretty high up there to me because of that.

If it was made only for the "Hard Luck" music video that I can see over and over again. Very nice costumes, the mississippi river and very good music. What can want more?

Always a fan of Elvis I would love to see this movie played for the latest generations of Elvis Fans. He has more than the three or four movies that this generation has seen on Television. This is a classic! Donna Douglas wasn't remembered for her Musical abilities but rather for her role in the Beverly Hillbillies. Harry Morgan has been stereotyped in two roles, Dragnet and M*A*S*H, but this film captured his singing ability. I feel this is a great tragedy.

50s/60s/Elvis/oldies showband in Florida

Burning Love by 24K Gold Music Shows       More videos

24K Gold Music Shows is a large oldies musical revue (126 people) performing primarily in Florida. The shows are filled with lots of choreography, energy, and great fun with oldies, country, and Elvis songs.

The last 1/3 of each evening show is an Elvis Tribute, featuring his music based on arrangements from his 1970s concerts. And every show is different.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
