Elvis in the movie - Follow That Dream

Elvis Movie "Follow That Dream" (1962)

"Follow That Dream" does not follow the typical Elvis-movie setup but instead is a comedy with not as much romantic emphasis.  Elvis stars as Toby Kwimper, who moves with his dad and siblings into Florida to start homesteading on a beach. They fish and enjoy life until some gangsters try to take them over.  The Kwimper family is pretty uneducated, so a social worker tries to make a case that Toby and his father are not fit to raise the adopted children.

Elvis' songs include "What a Wonderful Life", "Angel", and the title tune, "Follow That Dream".

It's a shame we all aren't as uneducated as the Kwimper family. Funny how trust, hope, compassion, and love are considered uneducated. Give me more uneducated people and less greedy supposedly "educated" folks.

The Legend lives. I watched the movie last night. My wife said she woke up last night and found me humming in my sleep. I guess since it found its way to my heart, keeping it in my head should prove easy.

This is one of my favorite movies by Elvis (next to King Creole, and Love Me Tender). I still know all the words to the songs, and the song at the end - Angel - I never kissed an Angel. It still gives me chills, and I was not quite a teen when I saw it in the late 1960's on TV!

"Follow that Dream" was so cool. It showed another side of Elvis's acting abilities. It shows how talented he was and is. I loved all the songs in this Elvis movie.

Elvis is fine as unassuming Toby Kwimper in this very surprising and at times touching performance. The courtroom scene contains one of the finest moments in this or any other film, and there is not a dry eye in the house. The supporting cast includes veteran actor Arthur O'Connell and some of the finest character actors of their time. Even if you are not an Elvis fan you'll enjoy a simpler place, and a simpler time.

Burning Love by 24K Gold Music Shows       More videos

24K Gold Music Shows is a large oldies musical revue (126 people) performing primarily in Florida. The shows are filled with lots of choreography, energy, and great fun with oldies, country, and Elvis songs.

The last 1/3 of each evening show is an Elvis Tribute, featuring his music based on arrangements from his 1970s concerts. And every show is different.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
