Elvis in the movie Flaming Star

Elvis Movie "Flaming Star" (1960)

Flaming Star is a serious drama about the tragedies that racist hatred can bring about.  It is considered one of the best, if not the best, film Elvis Presley acted in.  Elvis plays the part of Pacer Burton, who has a white father and a Native American mother from the Indian tribe Kiowas.  The friction between the tribe and the white settlers causes his father to be killed, then his mother.  His brother then stays with the settlers, while Pacer chooses to fight with the Kiowa camp - and more troubles are about to follow.

Song tracks found in "Flaming Star" include "Flaming Star", "A Cane and A High-Starched Collar".

Flaming star is a great film.  I watched it for the first time in 2007.

This movie shows what a good actor he could have been if given the right material -- jailhouse rock also proved that. What a face - beautiful!

It's just Elvis - he was the king, and in my mind still is.

I saw this film when I was a kid in my home country (Somalia, Mogadishu), but I never forgot its wonderful song, "Flaming Star". It was the very best Elvis movie that I ever saw. I have to add that the copy I saw was Italian speaking. Of course, since I was very young I can't judge the technical/dramatic/plot/acting merits of the film. All I recall is that we all loved Elvis at that time, and and the song plus some phrases like [translated to English:] "mother was better than a thousand of them", got stuck in my mind. The period was in the early sixties.

The reality was Elvis wanted to do serious movies where he could demonstrate his great acting talent. He got that CHANCE in flaming star! This has it all - great veteran actors and a great director. Elvis is on top of his game. This and VIVA LAS  VEGAS and G.I. BLUES are his 3 good movies of the 1960s.

This film has it all: Great director, no special effects, a very good story, the West from both sides, and very good acting by veteran actress, Dolores Del Rio, the Burton family, but also Rodolfo Acosta. Absolutely on top is ELVIS. What a shame that such talent ("Love me Tender", "King Creole" heralded it already) wasn't given the chance. In my book, this was Elvis' best performance and proof he was a good actor. If given the chance, Elvis would have lived to be a more happy man. May God watch over his soul.

This is a great example of the westerns at the time. The added bonus is that it actually has some real star appeal. I loved it the very first time I saw it. Elvis played the part so well that I forgot he was not a Native American Indian. This is a classic western, and Elvis is great in it.

The movie Flaming Star is totaly cool. I think that Elvis was one of the best actors of his time and now, and Flaming Star helped to prove that. If he was still alive, I know he would still be second to none.

It was one of Elvis' best movie which showed what a talent he had in doing serious movies and should have been allowed to do more. Colonial Parker was wrong keeping him from doing what movies he wanted to do. Elvis will always be the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

24K Gold Music Shows understands there was only one Elvis Presley, so NO ONE in in the band will ever attempt to "impersonate" Elvis or pretend to be him, nor even be as good as Elvis! The show they are doing is a sincere tribute to the King, with NO attempt to mock him.

So in 24K Gold Music Shows Elvis tribute show you will be reminded of Elvis through his songs, sung with similar arrangements to those he used in concert, and see some similar costumes to those he wore, just for nostalgia's sake.
